Where Do You Install Foam Hydrants?
Petrochemical enterprises – Pipes, towers, tanks, reactors. Everything is flammable or explosive. Foam hydrants placed every 50 to 100 meters around the plant. Fire crews connect their hoses and spray foam directly on leaking flanges or small fires.
Oil refineries – Same as petrochemical, but bigger. Crude oil, intermediate products, finished gasoline. Refineries have foam hydrants around each processing unit and around each tank.
Oil storage tank areas – Foam hydrants at the dike wall or at the base of each tank. Fire crews use them to supply foam to the tank's foam chamber or to spray foam on a spill fire.
Aircraft hangars – Hangars have foam systems in the ceiling, but also foam hydrants on the floor. Crews connect hoses for manual foam application around aircraft.
Fuel loading racks – Where trucks fill up with gasoline or jet fuel. Foam hydrants at each loading position.
Helipads – Foam hydrants near the landing area. A helicopter crashes and burns, crew connects a foam hose and protects the passengers.
Bulk storage warehouses – Foam hydrants outside the building. Fire crews use them to supply interior foam standpipes.

Q1: What's the difference between a regular water hydrant and a foam hydrant?
A regular water hydrant supplies plain water from the main. A foam hydrant supplies foam solution – water mixed with foam concentrate – from a foam proportioning system upstream. Fire crews connect their hoses and spray foam immediately. No need to carry eductors or foam buckets.
Q2: Why use a stainless steel ball valve instead of a gate valve?
Gate valves rust and stick after years without use. When a fire happens, you turn the handle and nothing moves. Stainless steel ball valves don't rust. Even after five years idle, they open with a light touch. That's the main reason we use them.
