The wet alarm valve, also known as a wet pipe alarm valve, is a critical component in a wet sprinkler system. Here's how it works:

Constant Pressure Maintenance: Under normal conditions, the valve maintains a constant pressure within the system, ensuring that the water is ready to flow at the right pressure when needed

Activation by Flow: When a fire occurs and the sprinkler heads open, water begins to flow, causing a pressure drop in the system side of the valve. This pressure change triggers the valve to open, allowing water to flow towards the open sprinkler heads to extinguish the fire.

Alarm Signal: As the valve opens, a portion of the water is directed through a signal pipe to a water flow indicator, pressure switch, and a water-powered alarm bell. This action not only supplies water to fight the fire but also sends an alarm signal indicating the location of the fire and potentially activating the fire pump to deliver additional water pressure to the system.

Prevention of False Alarms: The valve is designed to prevent false alarms due to minor pressure fluctuations in the system. It has a mechanism that balances the pressure on both sides of the valve disc, ensuring that it only opens when there is a significant drop in pressure indicative of a fire event.
