How Does It Work?
Simple. No moving parts inside the nozzle.
Foam solution comes from your fire hose. It enters the nozzle body. Inside, the nozzle has a small orifice that speeds up the foam solution. Right past that orifice, there are air holes. The fast-moving foam solution creates a vacuum and pulls air in through those holes.
The foam solution and air mix in the nozzle tube. The mixture expands. What comes out the other end is not foam solution anymore – it's finished air foam. Wet, heavy, and stable.
The expansion ratio on a PQ4 is usually between 2 and 8. That means 1 liter of foam solution becomes 2 to 8 liters of finished foam. Low expansion foam is heavy. It sticks to surfaces. It flows across burning liquid. It does not blow away in the wind.

Q1: What does "PQ4" mean?
The "PQ" stands for air-foam nozzle. The "4" means the flow rate – approximately 4 liters per second (about 240 liters per minute) of foam solution at rated pressure. That's the right size for one person to handle small to medium oil fires.
Q2: PQ4 vs. PQ8 – which one should I get?
PQ4 flows 4 L/s – one person can handle it easily. PQ8 flows 8 L/s – it's heavier and needs two people or a monitor mount. For most portable applications (car fires, spill fires, loading racks), the PQ4 is the better choice. Go with PQ8 for larger fires or fixed installations.
Q3: Can I use this nozzle with plain water?
Yes, but it won't help much on an oil fire. The nozzle will pull air and make bubbly water, but bubbly water doesn't extinguish flammable liquid fires. For oil fires, you need foam concentrate in the water. For class A fires (wood, paper, trash), plain water works fine.
