This is because the capsules that store foam liquid are mostly bonded with rubber with a thickness of 1~2mm, and the strength of pressure and tensile force on one side is very poor. If the process of filling the foam liquid is not handled properly, it is easy to cause tearing and damage of the capsule. According to engineering examples, about 70% of capsule breakage is caused by improper filling of foam liquid. Seriously, once the capsule of the foam fire fighting equipment is damaged, it will directly cause the paralysis of the entire foam fire extinguishing system, and the consequences will be serious if not found in time.
The principle that foam can filling should adhere to is that during the filling process, the unilateral force of the capsule should be avoided. The filling procedure is generally divided into four steps: water injection - leak detection - aerating - filling.
Water injection is to point to the filling of the interlayer of the storage tank and capsule, and its main function is twofold: one is to drain the air in the interlayer to avoid the air being compressed when the pressure is high and the external part of the capsule is compressed to form an air drum and rupture; The second is that the capsule can be suspended in water when filling, and the inner and outer walls of the capsule are simultaneously subjected to the pressure of the liquid, which can avoid tearing at the top flange connection of the capsule due to factors such as the gravity of the foam fire extinguishing agent. Therefore, water filling is an indispensable and important step in the filling process.
Foam tank leak detection is the application of appropriate water pressure to the interlayered water to check whether the capsule has been damaged. The main purpose is to ensure that the capsules are intact before filling the foam extinguishing agent and avoid waste caused by filling into the capsules that have already been damaged. If it is filled with new equipment that has not been purchased for a long time, because the capsule has generally just been tested for leakage before leaving the factory, this step of foam fire fighting equipment can be omitted as appropriate. However, if it is a secondary filling to equipment that has already been used, or filling to equipment that has been purchased for a long time, leak detection should be carried out strictly according to the steps.
Foam tank inflation refers to filling the capsule with the appropriate volume of nitrogen or air at the right pressure. Its main role is also twofold; The first is to use gas to stretch the capsule open to prevent local bonding of the capsule, which is conducive to foam liquid canning, and the second is to form a local gas suspension volume at the top of the capsule, so that the capsule can withstand sufficient buoyancy during the filling process and avoid excessive force at the joint of the capsule flange. Inflatation is also an important step and should generally be done according to the procedure. When the filling site is difficult to aerate and no preliminary leak detection steps are performed, the inflation of foam fire fighting equipment can be omitted as appropriate.
