The 5 Types Of Fires Must Not Be Extinguished With Water

Dec 10, 2022

The weather is dry and dry, it is the high season of fire accidents, and if you are not careful, it is easy to cause fires and threaten the safety of people's lives and property. Here, I remind the general public to keep in mind that the five kinds of fires cannot be extinguished with water, and effectively strengthen fire prevention and control.

1. Electrical appliances; In the event of a fire in electrical appliances, the power supply should first be cut off. In the event that power cannot be cut off, it must not be saved with water and foam, because both water and foam can conduct electricity. Carbon dioxide, 1211, dry powder fire extinguishers or dry sand should be used for fighting, and the distance from electrical equipment and wires should be kept at least 2 meters.

2. Oil pot; When the oil pan is on fire, it must not be poured with water. Because water meets hot oil will form a "fryer", making the oil fire splash everywhere. The rescue method is to quickly pour the cut cold vegetables into the pot along the edge, and the fire will automatically extinguish. Another method is to cover the oil pan with a lid or a large damp cloth that can cover the oil pan, so that the burning oil fire cannot contact the air and suffocate without oxygen.

3. Fuel oil, paint; Fuel oil or paint stored in the home must not be poured with water, and foam, dry powder or 1211 fire extinguishing equipment or sand should be used to extinguish it.

4. Computer; If the computer catches fire, unplug the power supply immediately and use a dry powder or carbon dioxide fire extinguisher to extinguish it. If it is found in time, you can also quickly cover the computer with a wet carpet or quilt after unplugging the power supply, and do not splash water on the computer that is on fire.

5. Chemical dangerous goods; In the school laboratory, there is often a certain amount of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, alkali metal potassium, sodium, lithium, flammable metal aluminum powder, magnesium powder, etc. These items are very easy to react or burn when exposed to water, and must not be extinguished with water.
